Nana Agradaa to be freed on March 3 under prison remission rules

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa or Mama Pat, is expected to be released from prison on March 3, 2026, after qualifying for Ghana’s standard remission policy. This policy allows inmates who show good behaviour to serve only two-thirds of their sentence.

Agradaa was sent to prison on July 3, 2025, after an Accra Circuit Court found her guilty of crimes including false advertising and defrauding people. The case came from a money-doubling scheme she promoted at her church in Weija, where members were promised miracle financial returns that never happened.

At first, she was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour. However, on February 5, 2026, the Amasaman High Court reviewed the case and agreed with the conviction but said the punishment was too harsh. The court reduced her sentence to 12 months in prison and added a fine of 200 penalty units (about GH¢2,400), which was counted from the day she was first convicted.

Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, explained that her release is not a special favour. He said it follows normal prison rules, which apply to all inmates who behave well while serving their sentence.

The case has attracted a lot of public attention because Agradaa is a well-known and controversial figure on social media. She is also known for her journey from being a traditional priestess to becoming a self-proclaimed evangelist, which made her story even more talked about across Ghana.
