Mahama’s unexpected praise kept me from quitting acting – Dr Likee

Popular Ghanaian comic actor Dr Likee, born Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, has shared how a surprise encounter with John Dramani Mahama made him change his mind about quitting the entertainment industry.

The comedian revealed that after many years of making movies and online skits, he had begun to feel discouraged and was seriously thinking about walking away from acting and comedy altogether.

According to him, his outlook changed when he unexpectedly met Mahama at an airport. What started as a brief greeting turned into a moment he says he will never forget.

Dr Likee recalled that the former President warmly welcomed him and told him he regularly watches and enjoys his comedy skits. The comment caught him off guard and left him deeply moved.

Hearing such encouraging words from a national figure made him rethink his decision to quit, he explained. It helped him realise that his work was reaching people and making an impact even among those in high public office.

Dr Likee added that the encounter gave him fresh motivation to keep going and continue creating comedy for his fans.

He said knowing that someone with a very busy schedule still finds time to watch his content and laugh at it gave him renewed confidence and energy to stay in the industry.
