Promoting a New Song in Ghana: What Actually Works in 2026 (and What Wastes Your Money)

Every week, Ghanaian artists spend money pushing new songs. Some of that money builds a fan base. A lot of it disappears into numbers that never turn into streams, shows or bookings. Here is how to tell the difference before you spend a cedi.

What wastes your money

  • Buying followers, views or likes. They raise a number on your profile, but they do not stream, share or come to shows, and fake engagement breaks TikTok’s Community Guidelines.
  • Posting the song once on your own page and waiting. Your page mostly reaches people who already know you.
  • Spreading a small budget over a whole month. A little money every day is easy to miss. The same money spent in one release week is much harder to ignore.

What works

  1. One sound, posted first. Cut the catchiest 15 to 30 seconds and post it as your own TikTok before anyone else does, so every video made afterwards uses the same sound and adds up to one trend.
  2. A release week, not a release day. Line up your own posts, your fans, the DJs you know and any paid posts for the same seven days.
  3. Other people’s WhatsApp Status. Your Status only reaches people who saved your number. When many people post your song on the same day, it reaches their contacts too, from someone those contacts trust.
  4. Real people making TikTok videos. Every new video made with your sound puts the song in front of another group of followers.
  5. Reply and repost. Answer comments and share the best fan videos on your own pages. It shows the next listener that the song is moving.

What a real push costs

TaskCashFlow, a Ghanaian platform, lets artists pay real people to share a song from their own accounts. Every post comes with proof, which is checked before the person is paid, and you pay with Mobile Money or card. Two example budgets:

  • Small budget, GHS 160: 5 TikTok videos built around your sound (GHS 60) and 20 people put it on their WhatsApp Status (GHS 100).
  • Bigger push, GHS 680: 20 TikTok videos built around your sound (GHS 230) and 100 people put it on their WhatsApp Status (GHS 450).

Other options include 20 reposts of your TikTok for GHS 100, 15 Instagram Story shares for GHS 75 and 20 reposts on X for GHS 100.
