Kojo Blak Says a Week of Insults Turned Into 300K Plays for ‘Ability’

Kojo Blak has answered a rough week on social media with a numbers update. In a post on X on Friday, 30 October 2026, the singer wrote: “300k insults this week somehow turned into 300k plays.”

He attached an Audiomack link to his latest single, Ability, which features Medikal and Beatz Vampire, and signed off with a playful nod to Daddy Lumba’s classic ‘Mpempem Do Me’, joking that the highlife legend’s “maths is adding up.”

What Kojo Blak said on X

The post came two days after another message in which he appeared to speak to his critics. “Dem dey cook me way me too I dey cook songs,” he wrote on 28 October, adding: “different kitchens, same heat.” On Ghanaian social media, being “cooked” simply means being roasted or heavily criticised online.

The tone of both posts was light. Rather than firing back at anyone by name, Kojo Blak pointed fans to the song and let the figure do the talking. The 300k number is his own, and it has not been independently confirmed.

Why Kojo Blak has been trending this week

The singer has been a talking point in recent days. Some commentators online took issue with remarks attributed to him in a recent interview about collaborations, including his interest in working with Nigerian star Omah Lay, and accused him of looking down on fellow Ghanaian acts. Others on X came to his defence, saying he is only dreaming big and deserves support for his hustle.

In the posts he has shared since, Kojo Blak has not gone through the criticism point by point. He has kept the focus on the music.

Ability, Medikal’s verse and a nod to Kelvyn Boy

Ability landed on 23 October and puts Kojo Blak alongside Medikal and Beatz Vampire. Kojo Blak has been hyping Medikal’s contribution too, describing it on X on 27 October as the “Ballon d’Or – Verse of the Year.”

There is another Ability making the rounds. Kelvyn Boy, who worked with Kojo Blak on Weather For 2, dropped the official video for his own ‘Ability’ on 30 October. Kojo Blak quoted Kelvyn Boy’s announcement on X with two words, “The Pioneer”, a friendly salute rather than any sign of a title clash.

For those catching up on his catalogue, his earlier link-up with King Promise, Mon Bebe, is still worth a listen.
