Shatta Wale Thanks Fans After ShattaFest 2026, Says He Didn’t Come to Compete
Shatta Wale has thanked his fans after ShattaFest 2026, the concert he staged to mark his birthday, and used the moment to share a long message about why he does music.
The show took place at the Accra Sports Stadium, with GhanaWeb livestreaming it. Shatta Wale celebrates his birthday on 17 October, and ShattaFest has become his yearly way of marking the day with fans.
“I came with a message”
In an Instagram post on 18 October, the dancehall star opened with “THANK YOU” and wrote that he “came with a message, not to be in competitions.”
He went on to say he did not come into the world to prove he is better than anybody, but to show that people can still become somebody great no matter where they come from or how many times they are rejected. According to him, his journey is about purpose, sacrifice and faith, not about who is ahead of him or behind him.
He also wrote that people may criticise his music or question his methods, but they cannot take away the purpose he believes God placed in him. He closed with the line: “I didn’t come to compete. I came to awaken a generation.”
The post did not name any other artist.
Shout-outs to his fans and team
A day later he shared a video from the show on Instagram, captioned “Thank you Ghana, Thank you SM FANS” with the hashtag #Shattafest26.
On X, he praised DJ Vyrusky, calling him “My best DJ in the world” and saying the DJ always followed his directions and perfected them. He also hailed MC Kojo Manuel as his “baddest MC on all standards”.
Fellow artists joined in the celebration too. On 17 October, Medikal posted a birthday message to Shatta Wale on Instagram and wrote “We lit tonight”.
ShattaFest keeps growing
ShattaFest has turned into a yearly tradition for the SM boss — you can look back at our coverage of ShattaFest 2025. Musically, he has stayed active as well, with his recent single “Heat” and a feature on Kweku Flick’s new song “Sweet”.
