Kofi Kinaata Announces ‘Kinaata in Canada’ for Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary

Kofi Kinaata is taking his music to Canada next year. The highlife star has announced Kinaata in Canada, a show set for March 2027 as Ghanaians mark the country’s 70th Independence anniversary.

Sharing the flyer on Instagram on 22 October, Kinaata asked fans to start planning now, book their annual leave and take time off their shifts so they can meet him in Canada. He tagged the organisers, WillBe Events, and added his usual #TeamMooove hashtag.

Kinaata in Canada: date, venue and what we know

So far, the flyer gives only March 2027 as the timing. Kinaata has not yet announced the exact date, city, venue or ticket prices. The flyer also carries a “75%” loading bar, a hint that more details are on the way.

The timing is deliberate. Ghana gained independence on 6 March 1957, which means March 2027 marks 70 years, and Ghanaian communities abroad typically hold celebrations and concerts around that date. Kinaata’s note to fans about leave and shifts suggests he is speaking directly to Ghanaians working in Canada who will want to plan ahead.

A year of releases for the Takoradi star

The announcement follows a steady year for Kinaata. In June he released Black Stars, his song named after the national team, and earlier he shared For Nothing. Known for storytelling in Fante and English, he remains one of the most consistent highlife songwriters of his generation, and his shows abroad usually draw large Ghanaian crowds.

For fans in Canada, the message for now is simple: keep March free and watch his pages for the full details. With the flyer already teasing that the plans are three-quarters done, the full announcement may not be far off. Event and booking enquiries for the singer can also be found in our Kofi Kinaata booking guide.

Keep following ghanasong.org for updates as the date and venue for Kinaata in Canada are confirmed.
