Sarkodie Thanks SarkNation After Rapperholic Kumasi 2026, Calls for Investment in Creative Economy

Sarkodie has broken his silence after Rapperholic Kumasi 2026, posting a string of thank-you messages on X on Monday morning and using the moment to make a case for more investment in Ghana’s creative economy.

The rapper headlined the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, 24 October, the second year running that his Rapperholic brand has been staged in Kumasi. As we reported on the night, Shatta Wale wished him well before the show, and by Sunday night the dancehall star was back on X congratulating him, saying Sarkodie “did it big”.

Sarkodie to SarkNation: “This event is just as much yours as it is mine”

In his longest post, Sarkodie turned to his fans, the SarkNation, and said he did not have the words to express how he felt. He said fans were already promoting the show on the ground and online even before he stepped up his own PR push, adding that the event is “just as much yours as it is mine”.

He also thanked the bloggers who followed the show and updated fans in real time, telling them “me da mo ase paa”, and said they kept the conversation going from the day tickets were released right up to show day. In a separate post, he gave a shout-out to content creators and public figures who used their platforms to promote #RapperholicKumasi26.

“Rapperholic is bigger than a concert”

Sarkodie went further in another post, arguing that the value of the show goes beyond ticket sales. According to him, Rapperholic stimulates economic activity across Kumasi, Accra and the wider Ghanaian economy through tourism, hospitality, transport, food, fashion, media, advertising and jobs.

He called on government and the private sector to help build an ecosystem where Ghanaian entertainment creates measurable economic value, ending with a simple line: “Let’s invest in our creative economy.” He did not share attendance or revenue figures in his posts.

Rapperholic Kumasi 2026: what happened on the night

Sarkodie has not yet posted a full rundown of the show himself. According to 3News, the concert ran into the early hours of Sunday, with performances from artistes including DopeNation, Mr Drew, Oseikrom Sikanii, Lasmid and Sista Afia. The outlet also reported that Sarkodie paid tribute to the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba during his set, and that reports put the crowd at more than 80,000, a figure ghanasong.org has not independently confirmed.

The night capped a busy week in the Garden City. Sarkodie arrived in Kumasi for radio rounds days before the show, and VIP tickets sold out ahead of the concert. He also has fresh music out, having recently released Deja Vu with KiDi, the lead single from his upcoming EP.

What’s next for Rapperholic

The next big date on the Rapperholic calendar is The O2 in London on 6 March 2027, which Sarkodie announced earlier this year.
